He was awarded a certificate as one of the best graduates of the Colleges of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 1981\/1982; in January 1985, he was awarded a prize by the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland as the best candidate in the Primary FRCSI Examination, January 1985, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. In February 1987, he received a Fellowship Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He wrote seven books, published more than 280 publications, and presented 67 papers at various conferences.
